Meet: World shortest man and woman

Chandra Bahadur Dangi, 72-year-old Nepalese is the world’s shortest man and Jyoti Amge, 18-year-old Indian is the world’s shortest woman met each other to celebrate the organization which made them famous and flashed in headlines last winter when they were got their titles by the Guinness World Records.

Chandra and Jyoti may be generations apart but were joking and laughing as they posed for photos with the new book, both dressed in traditional outfits from their native countries.

The photo shoot for the release of the book gave them another record to add to their list – it is the first time the world’s smallest man and woman have met in recorded history.

 

The book placed between them looks gigantic compared to the pair, but is in fact only 1ft high.

Jyoti took the title on her 18th birthday on December 16th last year.

The teen from Nagpur of central India has a form of dwarfism called Achondroplasia which means she will stay 2ft0.7in for the rest of her life.

Despite her size she has big dreams and has already starred in a number of Bollywood films and is pursuing a career in entertainment.

She is set to visit the UK in September to help launch the new book and says she can’t wait.

‘Since being recognised by Guinness World Records I have been able to visit lots of different countries. I love travelling.

‘I have visited Japan and parts of Europe and now I can’t wait to visit the UK.'

Whilst the bubbly teenager is looking forward to conquering the world, 72-year-old Chandra’s biggest moment in his career as the world’s shortest is the publication of the new book

‘I’m very happy that my name will be written in a book. It’s a big thing for my family, my village and my country.’

Mr Dangi hails from a small village called Rhimkola, 250 miles west of Kathmandu where, until recently, he spent his entire life.

He made headlines across the globe when he received his title in February this year.

He left his village for the first time in his life to fly to the capital of Kathmandu to meet and be measured by Guinness World Records officials.

At 21.5in Mr Dangi is also the shortest man in history, breaking the previous record of India’s Gul Mohammed (1957–97) who was 22.5in tall.

The official authority on record-breaking achievement is set to release its the 57th edition of the world’s best-selling copyright book, Guinness World Records 2013.

The book has sold 120 million copies to date and Guinness World Records receives more than 1,000 applications each week and has a specialized team of multi-language record managers and adjudicators who travel the globe to verify official record attempts.

How to use CCleaner like a Pro?

CCleaner is a popular application for wiping unwanted files left by certain programs, including Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera, Safari, Windows Media Player, eMule, Google Toolbar, Netscape, Microsoft Office, Nero, Adobe Acrobat, McAfee, Adobe Flash Player, Sun Java, WinRAR, WinAce, WinZip, GIMP and browsing history, cookies, Recycle bin, memory dumps, file fragments, log files, system caches, application data, autocomplete form history, and various other data. 

CCleaner includes a registry cleaner to locate and correct problems in the Windows Registry, such as missing references to shared DLLs, unused registration entries for file extensions, and missing references application paths.

CCleaner also allows to alter start-up programs, similar to the Microsoft Windows MSConfig utility. 

CNET editors gave a rating of 5/5 stars to this application. In addition, CCleaner was awarded by CNET for Editor's Choice Award in April 2009.

Actually there's a lot more variety of features hide in it! CCleaner is easy to use for beginners - just launch and click the Run Cleaner Button. 

Here's some tips and tricks - 'how to use CCleaner like a Pro'.

    

Think What to be Deleted

By default, CCleaner clears a lot of stuffs. Browsers automatically stored the browser caches, i.e., Temporary Internet Files (for Explorer), on the system to speeding up browsing in the future. 

When revisit a site, the site will load faster if images and other files are cached by the system. So, clearing these may free up some spaces and increasing browsing privacy, but frequent cache cleaning can slow down web browsing.

Erasing thumbnail caches - under Windows Explorer - can also slow things down and if opening a folder, which having lot of image files, will take time to re-create the caches. So, clearing these may free up space, but the cache will be re-created again. 

Other options clearing the most-recently-used lists (MRUs) in Windows and other Programes. These lists doesn't occupy much space and if the most-recently-used list to be rely on, be sure to uncheck them.

Important Cookies (White List)

By default, CCleaner clears all cookies; but, its essential to keep some. After running CCleaner, log into favorite sites then open the cookies pan from the option of CCleaner. CCleaner will help to listing the white list, such as Google, Yahoo Mail, Hotmail etc., by right click the cookies pane then select Intelligent Scan. Now, CCleaner will automatically add the cookies of Google, Yahoo Mail, Hotmail to the white list. 

     

It's also possible to add other cookies in the white list. Under cookies pane locate the desired cookie (for example: pnonazim.blogspot.com)  then click the right arrow button to add it in white list. 

Once added the cookie (of pnonazim.blogspot.com) in the white list, CCleaner will keep the cookie; so, it's not necessary to log back into pnonazim.blogspot.com after clearing the cookies. 

Beware Of Registry Cleaner

CCleaner has Registry Cleaner option, too. It's not preferable to run as the System's (Windows) Registry having hundreds of thousands of entries and removing a few, does not enhance the performance. But running this option may accidentally remove some registry values then put the system in risk. 

      

For any particular reason, the Registry Cleaner needed to be run, then ensure to back up the changes then restore the deleted registry values from the backup file if get any problems.   

Managing Start Up Programs

From Tools section, the Start Up panel allows to disable the programs those run automatically, when system starts. To avoid closing an auto start entry, which may important, use Disable option instead of Delete option; so, it can be re-enabled later. 

 

Wiping Drives

When Windows (or other OS) deletes a file, the file would not be wiped out from the hard drive. The area (of deleted file) is recognized by system as free space and the deleted file can also be recovered by using file recovery programs (doing scan), if the OS has not written over the area. CCleaner helps to protect against to wiping the free space with its Drive Wiper.

Hard drives free space needed to be wipe, every time, then Wipe Free Space option should be tick under Advanced pane from Cleaner section. Enabling this option may take long time to clean up; so it's better to leave this option as disabled. 

Deleting Files Securely

CCleaner has an option for deleting each file securely by using Drive Cleaner tool. But performance of deleting (by CCleaner) is slow when comparing the normal deletion (by default). This is the reason that OS doesn't allow to delete files securely by default. 

If the user is concerning for privacy then this option can be enabled from Settings tab in the Options section. 

Include

If a program, which was used by the user, is not included in the list of CCleaner or a temporary file directory needed to be erased regularly then specify the names of the Folders or Files, in which CCleaner will erase those files and empty the folders while running CCleaner. 

To use this feature, open Options section then use the Include Tab to specify the names.

Care is, also, needed when adding folders or files in this list, because the user may specify, mistakenly, some important folders or files to erase, which could be lose.

For the activation of this feature the checkbox of Custom Files and Folders under Advanced to be enabled (as shown below).  

     

Exclude

'Exclude' is an another feature in CCleaner that do some exceptional from removing the folders or files by adding an exclusion from the Options section. It's possible to exclude entire drive, folders, files, or registry keys and restrict specific file extensions as well.  

Managing Installed Programs

CCleaner has a feature to manage Installed Programs, which can be performed from Tool section. This panel has few more features than the default (Windows). Allowing user to renaming, deleting the entries and any changes the user made will also be appear in the (Windows) Control Panel. Save, also, the installed programs to text file, which is an easy way to keep the list of installed programs in case the user need to remember and reinstall them.

'ஆஷ்' கொலையும் ஆரிய சனாதனமும்!

ஆஷ் கொலை ஆரிய சனாதனத்தை காப்பாற்றவே!

ஜுனியர் விகடன் (27.6.2012 மற்றும் 1.7.2012) ஆகிய இதழ்களில் திரு எஸ்.இராமகிருஷ்ணன் தனது "எனது இந்தியா'' கட்டுரையில் 1911ம் ஆண்டு பிரிட்டீஷ் அதிகாரி ஆஷை கொலைசெய்த வாஞ்சி அய்யரை வர்ணித்து, 'இந்தக் கொலை பிரிட்டீஷ் காலனி ஆதிக்கத்துக்கு எதிராக இந்தியர் மனதில் வெகுண்டெழுந்த தார்மீக கோபத்தின் வெளிப்பாடு' என்று குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார்!?

இது உண்மையா?

ஆஷை சுட்டுக் கொன்றபோது வாஞ்சிநாதன் தன் சட்டைப்பையில் வைத்திருந்த கடிதத்தில் என்ன எழுதியிருந்தான்?

“ஆங்கில சத்ருக்கள் நமது தேசத்தைப் பிடுங்கிக் கொண்டு, அழியாத ஸனாதன தர்மத்தைக் காலால் மிதித்துத் துவம்சம் செய்து வருகிறார்கள். ஒவ்வொரு இந்தியனும் தற்காலத்தில் தேசச் சத்ருவாகிய ஆங்கிலேயனைத் துரத்தி, தர்மத்தையும், சுதந்திரத்தையும் நிலை நாட்ட முயற்சி செய்து வருகிறான். எங்கள் ராமன், சிவாஜி, கிருஷ்ணன், குரு கோவிந்தர், அர்ஜுனன் முதலியவர் இருந்து தர்மம் செழிக்க அரசாட்சி செய்து வந்த தேசத்தில், கேவலம் கோ-மாமிசம் தின்னக் கூடிய ஒரு மிலேச்சனாகிய ஜார்ஜ், பஞ்சமனை (George V) முடி சூட்ட உத்தேசம் செய்து கொண்டு, பெருமுயற்சி நடந்து வருகிறது. அவன் (George) எங்கள் தேசத்தில் காலை வைத்த உடனேயே அவனைக் கொல்லும் பொருட்டு 3000 மதராசிகள் பிரதிக்கினை செய்து கொண்டிருக்கிறோம். அதைத் தெரிவிக்கும் பொருட்டு அவர்களில் கடையேனாகிய நான் இன்று இச்செய்கை செய்தேன். இதுதான் இந்துஸ்தானத்தில் ஒவ்வொருவனும் செய்ய வேண்டிய கடமை.

 திரு. ரகுநாதன் தமது ‘பாரதி காலமும் கருத்தும்' (1982) என்ற நூலில் இக்கடிதத்தின் தமிழ் மூல வடிவத்தைக் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார். நீதிமன்றத்தில் சாட்சியமாக அளிக்கப்பட்ட தடயங்களின் (Exhibits) தமிழ் அச்சுப் பிரதியிலிருந்து இதனை அப்படியே எடுத்து எழுதியதாக ரகுநாதனுடன் நிகழ்த்திய உரையாடலின் போது குறிப்பிட்டதாக பேராசிரியர் ஆ.சிவசுப்ரமணியன் தெளிவாக பதியவைத்திருக்கிறார்.

முதல் பகுதியில் இக்கடிதம் குறித்து எழுதப்படாத நிலையில், இரண்டாவது பகுதியில் அதைக் குறிப்பிடும் எஸ்.ராமகிருஷ்ணன் அதையும் வாஞ்சிநாதனுக்கு ஆதரவாக பொழிப்புரை செய்கிறார். தனது கட்டுரையில், வாஞ்சிநாதன் ஆஷை கொல்வதற்கு முக்கிய காரணம் “ஆங்கில சத்துருக்கள் நமது தேசத்தைப் பிடுங்கிக் கொண்டு, அழியாத ஸனாதன தர்மத்தைக் காலால் மிதித்துத் துவம்சம் செய்வதுதான்" என்ற பார்ப்பன தர்மத்தை வெளிப்படுத்தும் இந்த கடிதத்தை வெளியிட்ட திரு.இராமகிருஷ்ணன், "அடக்குமுறை ஆங்கில ஆட்சி மீதான கோபத்தைவிட, தன்னுடைய மதநம்பிக்கை, சனாதன தர்மம் ஆகியவை ஆங்கில மிலேச்சர்களால் பாதிக்கப்படுகிறது என்ற கோபம்தான் வாஞ்சிநாதனுக்கு இருந்தது என்று சொல்லி அவரது கொலை நோக்கத்திற்கான காரணத்தை சிலர் பதிவு செய்துள்ளனர்" என்கிறார். அது சிலரது பதிவா? வரலாறா? என பார்ப்போம்.

வாஞ்சிநாதனின் உடல் திருநெல்வேலிக்கு கொண்டு செல்லப்பட்டு பொதுமக்கள் பார்வைக்கு வைக்கப்பட்டபோது அடையாளங் கண்டவர் உணவு விடுதி நடத்தும் ராமலிங்க அய்யர். கடந்த மூன்று நாட்களாக வாஞ்சிநாதன் தனது விடுதிக்கு வந்து சென்றதாக அவர் கூறினார் என்கிறது கட்டுரை. அவ்வளவு பெரிய திருநெல்வேலி நகரத்தில் அவர் தேர்ந்தெடுத்தது அய்யர் உணவு விடுதியைத்தான். இதை ஏதோ சுவைக்காக தேர்ந்தெடுத்ததாக எளிதாக எண்ணிவிட முடியாது. அவரது வர்னாஸ்ரம தர்மத்தை பாதுகாக்கவே அவர் அந்த விடுதியை தேர்ந்தெடுத்திருக்கிறார் என்பதே உண்மை.

இந்த வழக்கில் கைது செய்யப்பட்ட பதினான்கு பேரில் பெரும்பான்மையோர் பார்ப்பனர்களே என்பதும் மீதமுள்ளவர்களும் உயர்வகுப்பாராக தங்களை அடையாளம் காட்டிகொண்ட பிள்ளைமார்களே என்பதும் மிகவும் கவனிக்கப்படவேண்டிய செய்தியாகும்.

அன்றைய காலகட்டத்தில் ஆஷை "நவீன இரணியன்" என்று பத்திரிக்கைகள் எழுதியதாக கட்டுரையாளர் குறிப்பிட்டிருக்கிறார். "இரணியன்" யார்? இரணியன் அசுரர்களின் தலைவனாக கருதப்பட்டவன். பார்ப்பன குலதர்மத்தை எதிர்த்து சவால் விட்டவன். புராணகால இரணியனின் கதை புரட்சிக்கவிஞரால் சிறிது மாற்றம் செய்யப்பட்டு "இரணியன் அல்லது இணையற்ற வீரன்" எனும் பேரில் நாடகவடிவம் பெற்றது. பேரறிஞர் அண்ணா இரணியனாக நடித்திருக்கிறார்.

வர்ணாஸ்ரமத்தை எதிர்த்து சூத்திரர்களின் பாதுகாவலனாய் "நவீன இரணியன்" என்று பத்திரிகைகளில் எழுதப்பட்ட ஆஷை சனாதன வெறிபிடித்த வாஞ்சிநாதன் கொலை செய்தது எப்படி காலனி ஆதிக்க எதிர்ப்பாகும்?

ஆஷ்-ம் அவரது மனைவியும் பயணிக்கையில் பிரசவ வேதனையால் துடித்துகொண்டிருந்த தாழ்த்தப்பட்ட பெண்ணை தனது வண்டியில் ஏற்றி அவசரம் கருதி அக்ரஹாரம் வழியாக அழைத்துச் சென்று மருத்துவமனையில் சேர்த்தார் ஆஷ். 

"தாழ்த்தப்பட்ட பெண்ணை அக்ரஹாரத்தின் வழியாக அழைத்துச் சென்று பார்ப்பன சனாதன தர்மத்தைக் கெடுத்துவிட்டார் ஆஷ்!." இதுவே ஆஷ் கொலைக்குக் காரணம் என்று சொல்லப்படுகிற வரலாறு இருக்க, புதுச்சேரியில் இயங்கிவந்த வ.வே.சு.அய்யர் முடிவெடுத்து நீலகண்டபிரம்மச்சாரி திட்டம் தீட்டி வாஞ்சி அய்யர் நடத்திய படுகொலை பார்ப்பன குலதர்மத்தை காப்பதற்கே என்பது நன்றாகப் புரிகிறதுபோது, இராமகிருஷ்ணன் பார்ப்பன வாஞ்சிக்கு பல்லக்கு தூக்குவது ஏன்?

Thousands of employees were evacuated from a seven-story government building in Mumbai on 21 June 2012 after a huge blaze tore through.

Television images showed people perching on window ledges as orange flames licked the outside of building. Others made a scramble towards firefighters' ladders, propped precariously against the towering block.

More than two dozen fire engines battled the fire that raged for several hours.

Raging: The cause of the fire was not immediately known. Some witnesses complained that firefighters took almost half an hour to reach the site

13-month-old conjoined sisters (with Photos)

A pair of 13-month-old conjoined sisters, who were abandoned by their poverty-stricken parents, have been successfully separated.

Aradhana and Stuti were left at the Missionary Hospital in Padhar, India, after they were born on May 11 last year, because their parents could not afford to take care of them. Their father Hari Ram Yadav is a poor local farmer who has just two acres of land.

The twins, who were joined at the chest, were separated 20 June 2012 during a 12-hour operation involving 23 doctors and 11 nurses from India and Australia. They were wheeled in the operation room at 8am, before the surgery followed from 9am to 9pm. The team first separated their hearts, which were joined by the same membrane, followed by their fused livers.

Hospital Superintendent Dr Rajiv Choudhry said he was happy with how the surgery went. The special sisters will now remain on ventilators and under close observation for the next 48 hours.

The team had done a dry run of the entire procedure beforehand.

The surgery was funded by Indian TV viewers and local politicians after hearing of their plight.

The outpouring of generosity, with thousands of small donations by members of the public, is unusual in India where girls are often not valued in rural communities and disabled babies are often abandoned.

Public generosity was matched by a £22,000 fund from the Madhya Pradesh state government.

The girls have been cared for by hospital staff since their birth, with three nurses taking shifts to act as surrogate mothers. Surgeons at the under-equipped Paddar Hospital spent months appealing for international help and preparing for the operation.

The hospital persuaded the parents, who already have a six-year-old son, to continue having a relationship with their daughters. The couple Hari Ram Yadav and Maya Yadav now hope to take their girls home after surgery. 

'We are happy that they will finally get to be a family and both the girls will get a proper home,' said Vikas Sonwani, assistant administrator of Paddar Hospital. 

The twin girls have been looked after and even named by the hospital staff. Both their names mean 'prayer'.
 
Conjoined twins occur in around one in every 200,000 live births. They are identical - coming from a single egg that doesn't fully separate after fertilization and therefore always the same sex.

Their prospects vary widely depending on their general state of health, how they are joined and what organs are shared.  

 

Medical experts from India and Australia work to separate the twins.

Between 40 to 60 per cent of conjoined twins are stillborn and around 35 per cent survive only one day. The overall survival rate of conjoined twins is somewhere between five and 25 per cent. Female twins are three times as likely as males to be born alive.

Surgical separation is still rare. According to the University of Maryland , at least one twin has survived separation about 75 per cent of the time since 1950.

One of the earliest documented cases of conjoined twins were Mary and Eliza Chulkhurst. They were born joined at the hip and were known as the Biddenden Maids. They died aged 34.
